SECTION 1.
[16785]
No. 1.
Sir W. Townley to Sir Edward Grey.-(Received April 17.)
(No. 89.) Sir,
Tehran, April 1, 1914.
I HAVE the honour to report that the Persian Government, who have been alarmed of late by the enormous increase in the use of morphine in the country, have now decided to prohibit the import of this drug.
Chemists of repute possessing diplomas will be allowed to import the necessary quantity for medical purposes, provided that they give an undertaking not to sell it to anyone for other than such purposes.
I have, &c.
WALTER TOWNLEY.
